ATTRACTION AND EVENTS



Ø  TAKE OFF
1.    The first place is in the middle of a town and it’s like that the visitor stand in front of a bridge in England.
2.    The second place is in the desert and it’s like that the visitor is on the top of a great canyon in Africa.
3.    The third place is in the big library in Rome and the visitors are looking on a beautiful painting and see the architecture of the building.
4.    The fourth place is in the Pyramid in Egypt, and the visitor is just like an archeologist who seeing the great ancient carving on the Pyramid’s wall.
Ø  VOCABULARY
1.    The most popular visitor attractions in my country are:
-      Trans Studio in the downtown of Makassar, South Sulawesi. This visitor attraction is so famous because it gives us many games and attractions. Furthermore, Trans Studio is the biggest and the most complete recreation object in Indonesia. Every day, Trans Studio is full by a local visitor or an international tourist.
-      Toraja is also located in South Sulawesi around 6 hours long from Makassar to get there. Toraja has a tropical weather and very beautiful landscape to see. The tourists, I mean the international tourist who come to Sulawesi, spend the most of their time in Toraja by seeing an ancient grave Londa’ and also see the traditional buried ceremony which showed many customs activity.
2.    The categories in the table they belong to are lake, river, mountain, hill, theme park, theater, and festival.
3.    The difference between :
-      Lake and river: lake is a large area of water surrounded by land and not connected to the sea except by rivers or streams and river is a natural wide flow of fresh water across the land into the sea, a lake, or another river.
-      Mountain and hill: mountain is a raised part of the Earth's surface, much larger than a hill, the top of which might be covered in snow and hill is an area of land that is higher than the surrounding land.
-      Museum and art gallery: museum is a building where objects of historical, scientific or artistic interest are kept and art gallery is a room or building which is used for showing works of art, sometimes so that they can be sold.
-      Palace and castle: palace is a large house that is the official home of a king, queen or other person of high social rank and castle is a large strong building, built in the past by a ruler or important person to protect the people inside from attack.
-      Festival and parade: festival is a special day or period, usually in memory of a religious event, with its own social activities, food or ceremonies and parade is a large number of people walking or in vehicles, all going in the same direction, usually as part of a public celebration of something.
-      Nightclub and casino: nightclub is a place which is open late into the night, where people can go to drink and dance and often see some type of entertainment and casino is a building where games, especially roulette and card games are played for money.
-      Theater and concert hall: theater is a building, room or outside structure with rows of seats, each row usually higher than the one in front, from which people can watch a performance or other activity and a concert hall is a large building in which  concerts  are performed.
Ø  READING
1.    The changes have been there in the four attractions in the last thirty years are the building concepts is not so natural anymore, the traditional festival has changed into a festival which held in the down town every year, the entertainment and leisure has been changed become simple and develop world, and the last is the tourist always looking for a new attraction nowadays, not attraction anymore.
2.    The trends have been described there are about the attractions become industry looking for income only, the building concepts, the entertainment and leisure, an also about the tourists who come there.
3.    The visitor attraction which is an example of the passage is entertainment which has been changed.
4.    The other example so that the attraction could be more interesting and excited are the first the attractions should have a facilitate to play and the second is the attraction should have a good safety rating.
Ø  VOCABULARY
1.    The building that may contain the part of those is palace, because palace has a complete architecture that the pictures showed us.
2.    The famous that has these features is just like a palace or a kingdom.

-      Marble, stone, granite
-      Carving, sculpture, statue
Ø  READING
1.    The function of those building is as a fortress for soldiers in war.
2.    It built in the early 19th century as a tribute to French army of Napoleon.
3.    The fortress is over 50 meters high, 45 meters wide and 22 meters thick.
4.    The building is used for a special procession.
Ø  COSTUMER CARE
1.    The attraction between two different cultures is usually happens and sometimes causes different responses too. For example, Japan and Middle East. If Japan is bowing, it means that we are obeying and respect someone with that. But for the Middle East, bowing means that we are not impolite to someone and sometimes it can be a sign of give up. So that’s why we have to understand where we have to use and practice this action.


Ø  WRITING
1.    A famous ceremony from Indonesia is August 17th ceremony. The ceremony is a tribute to the heroes who have struggle and sacrificed their soul to take a freedom from Dutch.
Ø  VOCABULARY
1.    Activity sheet is a piece of paper to write down answers to questions as you visit an attraction.
2.    Animatronics is the art of moving a lifelike figure or person by electronic means.
3.    Audio-tour is translated what someone has said into another language.
4.    Curator is look after things are kept in museum.
5.    Guide shows tourists or travellers where to go.
6.    Interpreter is someone whose job is to change what someone else is saying into another language.
7.    Lifeguard is a person on a beach or at a swimming pool whose job is to make certain that the swimmers are safe and save them if they are in danger.
8.    Ranger is a person whose job is to protect a forest or natural park.
9.    Signpost is a pole at the side of a road, especially at a point where two or more roads meet, which gives information about routes and distances.
10. Waxwork is a place where there are a lot of wax models of famous people for the public to look at.
