1. Niagara
Falls is one of the most beautiful sights in North America. It is on the Niagara River about halfway between
Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Niagara Falls is on the American and
Canadian border. The American Falls is 167 feet high. On the Canadian side, the Horseshoe Falls is 161 feet high.
2. The Statue
of Liberty is visited by thousands of people every year. The
Statue of Liberty is a 151 foot statue of a woman holding a book and a torch.
It is located on an island in
New York Harbor. It was a gift of
friendship from the people of France.
It has become a universal symbol of freedom.
3. The Erie
Canal changed the way people moved goods and supplies in the mid 1800's. The 363 mile canal connected Albany, New York to
Lake Erie in Buffalo for the first time. When the canal opened in 1825, building supplies and goods
could be transported quickly and cheaply across New York State. Canal boats pulled by mules carried
people and supplies the 363 miles.
4. Soccer
players learn many skills when playing soccer. Soccer
players learn how to dribble and pass the ball. They also learn how to control the ball so they can
eventually score. Most importantly, soccer players learn how to work
together with their teammates.
5. The big day
had come at last.
Mrs. Jones' third grade class waited quietly for her to come into the room. They had planned the party a week
ago. Today Amy brought
the cupcakes, Joey brought the napkins, Carlos brought the soda, and Katie
brought the cups. Everyone wanted the party to be a surprise. Mrs. Jones did not know the children
knew it was her birthday. When she came back into the room, the children
shouted, "Happy birthday, Mrs. Jones!" And then the children got a
surprise, too! Mrs. Jones had
brought everyone a party hat and ice cream!
6. Adult
education is essential for Democracy of India. The number of grown up illiterates is great. All college and senior School
students should come forward to visit villages in the summer vacation. Each one will teach one there.
This will remove illiteracy
and strengthen our democracy.
7. I happened
to see a one day cricket match between Pakistan and Australia at Wankhade
Stadium, Mumbai. I
went for a fun. But I
witnessed a horrible sight. Two thousand ticketless cricket fans gate crashed. There was a stampede. Three
persons died and twenty were injured. Administration was responsible for it.
8. City
Anti-pollution Drive demands certain steps from all the citizens of ABC city. All house-holders should pack the waste in a
plastic bag and put the bag in front of their house. The bag will be replaced with an empty bag by the
Municipal van every morning. They should maintain the cleanliness of the city. This will make the city pollution
free.
9. People do it
every day. They log on to their favorite
website and browse for hours, checking out bargains. They dump every
possible wish into their shopping carts, knowing they can cast each one aside
before they finalize their purchases. On the way, they may enter a sweepstakes in the hopes of winning a trip
to Cabo San Lucas, or maybe even a new SUV. And then, when they have decided on their purchases,
they enter private information without giving it a thought. With a
keystroke, they release their personal data into what may or may not be a
secure zone. Despite what
much of the public believes, internet shopping is not safe.
10. It is the state
dance of California. It is a partner dance that requires a leader and a follower. The steps are performed in a slot or row
configuration. The leader and follower exchange
places as they dance through turns, side passes, whips, and other moves. The leader and follower hold hands
throughout the dance except for a few moves that allow for a break in the arm
connection. This dance is known as the West Coast Swing, and
it is very popular among all age groups.
